Starting A Business In Canada
The first step to getting started is to visit the governing bodies and become familiar with everything that is available to you. Whether you need to get your business registered or you need to know the legal requirements for the industry you are about to start, it is always good to have the facts.
Also as a business owner, it is your responsibility to keep updated on changes in the industry you are participating in. I say this because you will not be able to use that as your defense with Revenue Canada.
If you are a small supplier, less than $30,000 per year you do not have to register as a business for HST. That being said, you should set aside the amount that correlates to the income just in case Revenue Canda should decide to audit you.
